…everyone who has left… (everything ) for my name’s sake, will receive a hundredfold…

If you think broadly on the statement of Jesus in today’s Gospel reading (Mt.  19:27-29), you  will realize that it encompasses not only religious men and women who have left behind family and possession and more especially the right to marriage, but also the married men and women who have looked away from all others to be tied to only one. The numerical difference of 1 and 0 is not a significant one.

Come to think about it. The religious celebate person chooses no to get married for the sake of the kingdom of God, and in the same token the married man or woman chooses to look only at one partner foregoing the rest of the possibilities. This is true only when either of them keeps true to their decisions and lives in respect of the commitments they have made.

Think about it objectively.

      1. It applies to the catholic Priests and religious. These have decided not to have families of their own in order to dedicate their entire life and energies to serve others as Christ did. Being celibate is a matter of self-choice and discipline in the catholic laws inorder to facilitate the all-giving concept of service. Many will debate about it, but it is as simple for the one who has chosen to live it as it is complicated for those observing from far. Hope this helps you.
