The devotion and consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus has sustained the missionaries and their work of evangelization since the foundation of the Church by the apostles following the commission by Christ Himself. Among these missionaries we have St. Arnold Janssen-the founder of the Divine Word missionaries, St. Joseph Freinademetz-The First Missionary to China sent by Arnold, and St. Daniel Comboni-The founder of Comboni Missionaries and Himself a missionary in Sudan.
Sr. Arnold became an apostle to the Sacred Heart and his Motto was: “MAY THE HEART OF JESUS LIVE IN THE HEART OF ALL PEOPLE”. (Fr. Geoffrey Kamau via whatsapp)
As Divine Word Missionaries our basic and most important calling is that through our lives and preaching, the people we serve may know and experience the Sacred Heart of Jesus. We can only do this by imitating the heart of Jesus, full of loving kindness, mercy, forgiveness, and concern for all without discrimination.
May the Sacred Heart live in our hearts
