The 2nd of September 2020 will go down the history of Good Shepherd Parish in Simanjiro, Arusha – Tanzania as a very memorable day. It was a very sunny and warm day. After a long wait, many prayers and anticipation, 17 of 22 Catechist were given brand new motorcycles to help them in the evangelization of the people in our vast mission of Simanjiro. Many thanks goes to our mission partners whose generosity has made this day come to be.

The occasion began with the usual meeting that the catechists and the Parish Priest Fr. Lawrence Muthee, SVD have every first Wednesday of the month. This meeting serves to bring report of the progress in all the 28 outstations of the Parish. For long time the long distances to the outstations have been the greatest hindrance to evangelization. The catechists have to travel long distances on foot to reach the faithful in the Small Christian Communities.

The vastness of the parish (about 100 square meters) makes the faithful go for long time before they see a priest. The catechists are the ones who keep the faith going in our outstations.

This tremendous generosity from our friends who have been following the evangelical event of our mission through our publications and value the work of our catechists have been doing, will go very far to making our mission spread even to the most interior villages. The catechists have promised to work hard in order to reach all the families.

The catechists are undergoing the process of training and acquiring of driving licenses in order to be safe on our roads. They were also given a seminar on road safety which will be an ongoing activity.

The expression of joy in their faces was very notable and profound. May God continue to bless all those who made it possible to have these motorcycles. This will be transform many lives through the work of our Catechist.
