SVD AFRAM ZONE 

CHARACTERISTIC DIMENSIONS MEETING KARA-TOGO

The Society of the Divine Word (SVD) as a missionary congregation carries her mission in four main Characteristic Dimensions that also make up her identity. Every three years the coordinators of these dimensions in every Province, Region, and Mission (PRMs), meet in there various zones to discuss, evaluate and plan on how to improve the mission of SVD in their zones.  This year, this meeting took place from 27 to 31 May 2019, at St. Arnold Janssen Guest House in Kara-Togo, West Africa.

A total number of 49 PRMs coordinators, including the four General Coordinators from the SVD Generalate in Rome, participated. The meeting programme was divided into two parts. The first part was “general meetings”, whereby all the participants from all the four Characteristics Dimensions came together to evaluate, discuss and discern new areas and ways in which they could collaborate.  The second part was the meeting of the particular Characteristic Dimensions, to evaluate the previous Action Plan and come up with a new one for the next triennium, in order to make effective their activities in the Zone and in their respective PRMs, as well as share best practices among themselves in the Zone.

The General Coordinators also used the opportunity to update the participants on the direction of the Congregation, especially from the 2018 General Chapter Resolutions. This was to encourage the coordinators to work towards the realization of the Congregation’s vision in the world today, especially in the AFRAM Zone.

The participants had liturgical celebrations together, each day organized by one of the Characteristic Dimensions’ Coordinators. They also had meals together.
