Ordination of Fr. Evans Wakhongola

On the 16th June 2017, Our newest priest from Kenya-Tanzania Province was Ordained in the Holy Spirit SVD Parish in Langas Eldoret. In the span of two years, Kenya has Kenya-Tanzania province has added 4 confreres all from Kenya, namely Fr. James Mburugu, Fr. Lawrence Muthee, Fr. Ronald Aming’a and Fr. Evans Wakhongola. This shows that the province is growing in vocations but still there is a lot to do since this number is still too small. Many other provinces in Africa ordained more than 3 priest every year. Also we need many more brother vocations for our province.

The best ways to promote vocations to religious life is by setting good examples to the young people in our parishes and institutions so as to attract them. The kind of life we live need to witness true Christian service and happiness that comes with it.

Today the world has a lot to offer to the young people. We need to show them by our lives that there is more to life that earning money and consuming products. One of the major and effective campaigns we need to popularize is the importance of stable Christian families. It is from there that the vocations to religious life will be born. We may not see the fruits during our life-time, but as many who planted trees did not live to enjoy their shades, we too need to sow the seeds and let the coming generation say good things about us.
